Star Citizen Ships Coming in 2026 — What We Know

2026 is shaping up to be one of the most ship-dense years in Star Citizen history. DefenseCon 2956 just closed, delivering the Aegis Tiburon, the MISC Starlite, the Drake Pitbull, and the Anvil Odin. Now the question shifts to what comes next — which ships from the backlog actually land this year, which are realistic candidates, and which ones you can stop waiting for until at least 2027.

Two ships are already locked in. Everything else depends on development priorities, gameplay dependencies, and how much of the schedule is consumed by Squadron 42.

Confirmed for 2026 — RSI Galaxy and Gatac Railen

Two ships have explicit CIG confirmation for 2026 delivery.

The RSI Galaxy has been confirmed multiple times for IAE 2956 — the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo in November 2026. A modular multi-role ship configurable for cargo, medical, refining, and other roles depending on installed modules. One of the most anticipated ships in the backlog precisely because it is useful across multiple playstyles.

The Gatac Railen arrives much sooner. CIG confirmed it for Alpha 4.8.2, targeting mid-June 2026, tied to Alien Week. A Gatac Manufacture ship — the Xi'An manufacturer — and the first alien ship to go flight-ready in some time.

Strong Candidates — Ships That Could Realistically Drop This Year

Beyond the confirmed pair, several ships sit in a position where a 2026 release would not be a surprise.

Kruger Stingray — A new light fighter from Kruger Intergalactic. Development work was already underway in 2025. No gameplay dependency blockers — pure combat ship. The strongest unconfirmed candidate for 2026.

The Base Building Wave — One Update That Unlocks Multiple Ships

A significant portion of the backlog is blocked by a single system: base building. If CIG ships base building this year, it would not release one or two ships — it would release a wave.

MISC Starlancer BLD — The base building variant of the Starlancer. Exterior and interior reportedly near complete, sharing a chassis with the Starlancer Max. The only blocker is the drone bay. If base building launches, this may be the first ship out of the gate — potentially the launch ship for the feature, just as the Starlite marked the refueling rework.

Greycat MFC and Auxilia — Both are fabrication vehicles for base construction operations. The Greycat MFC is built on an existing ground vehicle chassis, compressing development time significantly. The Auxilia is a generalist fabrication ship on a similar base. Straightforward additions once fabrication gameplay exists.

Forge — A ground-mining ship likely from Consolidated Outland (unconfirmed), reliant on Genesis planetary tech and surface resource extraction. Ground mining feeds base resources directly — makes most sense as part of the same release window as base building.

Consolidated Outland Pioneer — The capital ship of base building. Not coming this year — too large and complex. But it is the long-term anchor of everything the Starlancer BLD and Greycat MFC are building toward.

If CIG confirms base building for 2026, expect multiple ships on this list to move from backlog to flight-ready within the same announcement cycle.

Wildcards — Possible Only If the Stars Align

Aegis Javelin — Flight-ready in Squadron 42. Most plausible PU scenario: a release timed alongside SQ42 launch as a flagship moment. Without SQ42 shipping, its 2026 arrival is much less likely.

Aegis Vulcan — Refueling is functional, repair is receiving attention. The only real blocker is the drone system. If CIG pushes repair independently of base building, the Vulcan becomes an easy win.

MISC Expanse — A refining ship waiting on ship-based refining gameplay. Refining exists at stations already — the Expanse brings it to player-owned ships. Unlikely this year, but worth watching if CIG signals a refining push.

Not This Year — Ships to Stop Waiting For

RSI Orion — Mining gameplay is in a poor state. Not this year.

Consolidated Outland Pioneer — Even if base building ships this year, the Pioneer is too large to arrive alongside it.

Origin G12 — A wheeled ground vehicle that could technically ship at any time. In practice, ground vehicle handling is poor and there is little meaningful terrain without Genesis. It will make sense when the ground layer is actually playable.

Anvil Liberator — Big ship, pre-production, no event slot available in 2026. Strong candidate for 2027.

Anvil Crucible — Undergoing a reconcept to align with the Hangar Services system. More likely 2027.

Drake Kraken — CIG confirmed it for DefenseCon 2957. Definitely 2027.

The Banu Merchantman, MISC Odyssey, MISC Endeavor, Hull E, and Genesis Starliner are all blocked by gameplay systems that do not exist in shippable form. Long-term vision pieces, not near-term releases.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the RSI Galaxy definitely coming in 2026?

Yes — CIG has confirmed the Galaxy for IAE 2956 in November 2026 through multiple official communications.

When is the Gatac Railen coming to Star Citizen?

The Railen is confirmed for Alpha 4.8.2, tied to Alien Week, targeting mid-June 2026.

What is the Kruger Stingray?

A light fighter from Kruger Intergalactic in active development since 2025. No gameplay dependency blockers — the strongest unconfirmed candidate for 2026.

Will the Aegis Javelin come to Star Citizen in 2026?

Possible but unlikely without a trigger. The most plausible scenario is a PU release timed alongside a Squadron 42 launch. Without SQ42 shipping in 2026, it is much less probable.

Why is the Consolidated Outland Pioneer not on this year's list?

The Pioneer is a capital-scale base building ship. Even if base building ships in 2026, the Pioneer is too large and complex to arrive alongside it. It is a longer-term prospect.
